Seismic Sources

Model 100 Seismic Source

The approximate weight of the hammer is approx 22.5kg.  Energy at impact based on measured speed and mass of the hammer = 0.191 kJ.

The unit is electrically operated and hitch mounted.

The advantages of a electrical motor are as follows:

    1. Seismically quieter operation

    2. Eliminates hydraulic fluid

    3. Overall weight is less

    4. Simpler operation

Re-Useable Wooden Shipping Crate

Standard spare parts kit

(Recommended)

Includes basic tools, two elastomers, and detailed maintenance documentation.

Extended spare parts kit

Includes additional tools and fasteners, and additional electronic and electrical parts.  This kit is recommended for buyers who will work in remote areas where receiving parts is difficult

Radio Trigger Link (RTL)  w/Motorola Talk About radio

The RTL sends the trigger signal from the source to the seismograph without needing a long trigger cable dragging on the ground.

 OR

Remote Hand Controller, wireless option

Allows the source to be controlled from over 100 ft away.

 Accelerometer Output

Provides Source Function Characterization - This is an analog output which is output in volts, the measurement is scaled to "g's" and shows the exact characteristic of the impact.  The analog output can be part of the seismic data collection and input into the seismograph.

 OR

 Pico Scope

Provides Source Function Data Capture - A high speed electronic digital memory scope which can digitally capture the source impact.  A seismograph may not sample fast enough for a full characterization of the signal.  Data from the scope can be downloaded to a PC.
