Stratigraphic profiles, fence diagrams and block models

2D profiles

  • The 2D stratigraphic profile generator first creates a solid model of your stratigraphy, and then allows you to pick any transect through the model, resulting in a projected profile view (right)

Fence diagrams

  • Fence diagrams are created in the same manner as profiles. First a 3D stratigraphic model is created from your borehole stratigraphy data. You then have the freedom to choose any plane or series of planes through the model.

Stratigraphic block models

  • Once you've created a 3D strat model in RockWorks2002, there are many ways to manipulate your model in the 3D viewer: individually turn layers on and off, use layer transparencies for better viewing, append other 3D components such as drillholes and geochemistry models. RockWorks also displays volume and mass information for each of your layers.

Formation top maps and isopach models

Elevation maps of formation tops

  • Make a 2D (below left) or 3D (below right) elevation map for the top of any of your stratigraphic units
  • Create multiple, stacked elevation maps in 3D (right)

Click

2D thickness models

  • Create a thickness (isopach) map in 2D for any of your stratigraphic units
  • Custom contour line, colorfill and labeling and legend options

3D thickness models

  • You can also make 3D models of your 3D stratigraphic layers
  • Volume and mass information is provided for your layer in the 3D viewer

Formation top picker and volumetrics

Pick your formation tops

  • If you have uncorrelated lithology data, you can pick your correlations within RockWorks2002 using a graphical interface (right)
  • Simply click on a formation top for a given borehole, and RockWorks immediately adds the depth information to the stratigraphy table in the borehole data manager!

Detailed volumetrics

  • You can easily export detailed mass and volume data for each of your stratigraphic units to the geological utilities spreadsheet where many other tools can be used to analyze and visualize your data
