Surfer  8 is a contouring and 3D surface mapping program that runs under Microsoft Windows. It quickly and easily converts your data into outstanding contour, surface, wireframe, vector, image, shaded relief, and post maps. Virtually all aspects of your maps can be customized to produce exactly the presentation you want. Producing publication quality maps has never been quicker or easier.

Surfer produces contour or surface maps from X,Y,Z data sets. Surfer is a grid based contouring package that transforms your scattered X,Y,Z data into a grid file used to produce the contour and surface maps. After you have completed the contour or surface maps you can overlay base maps and posted points on the maps. You have complete scaling control in all three dimensions. And you can compute volumes, planar and surface areas, residuals, and create cross-sections.
